Job Description

The Billing Specialist/Self Pay Specialist is responsible for ensuring efficient billing processes that will lead to a fast reimbursement turnaround for billing and collection activities for all agency billable services to Medicare, Medicaid, MCO's, commercial insurance, HMO's and other third party pay sources.

Great Schedule: The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and a work from home option is available after an initial training period!

Starting Pay Rate: $20.38/hour

Additional Duties Include

  • Research claim denials through correspondence and research of denied Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to validate the denial reason or correct the issue.
  • Contacting insurance carriers to determine specific steps to get claims paid.
  • Managing the self-pay billing, client statements, and accounts receivables, improving self-pay collection results, and transferring to another pay source for possible billing, grant funding, and utilizing debt forgiveness in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Electronically batch all self-pay client statements, edit and complete the upload to vendor for processing.
  • Provide primary back-up and support to Contract Billing functions.

Requirements

  • Experience: Two years of healthcare experience required. Experience in a reimbursement field is a plus!
  • Background Check: Candidates who are offered a position are required to undergo a background check and drug screen.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
