Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: The Laborer Grounds Maintenance position is responsible for performing general and grounds maintenance services to maintain the appearance and function of the building area and grounds at the CBP National Air Training Center in Oklahoma City, OK.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Trash and debris removal from grounds, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, etc.
• Grass mowing and edging of landscaped (primary) areas.
• Grass mowing and weeding of non-landscaped (secondary) areas.
• Pruning and trimming of shrubs and trees.
• Maintenance of shrubs, hedges and flower beds.
• Weed control of landscaped and driveway areas.
• Fertilization of landscaped areas.
• Watering and irrigation of shrubs, flowerbeds, hedges, trees, and lawn areas.
• Raking and removal of leaves.
• Snow and ice removal and control.
• Interior and exterior pest and rodent control.
• Assist janitorial staff as needed.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment and comply with all applicable security and safety regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
• Two (2) years commercial/industrial experience in general and grounds maintenance.
• Knowledge of standard environmental, general, and grounds maintenance methods, practices and techniques used in an industrial or commercial environment, preferably government related environment.
• Ability to operate and perform maintenance and minor repairs on powered tractors, tractor attachments, mowing, trimming, edging, and similar equipment normally used in landscape maintenance in accordance with government standards.
• Must have a working knowledge and comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and driving history must meet company standards throughout employment.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a background check as a condition of employment and to obtain access to federal installations.

Physical stamina and strength in all its forms (endurance, temperature/climate, stress, etc.) is necessary.
