Atelier Joliet is a new contemporary art gallery dedicated to elevating Joliet’s cultural landscape while fostering meaningful connections between artists, collectors, and the community. Through carefully curated exhibitions and thoughtful collector engagement, the gallery seeks to create lasting cultural and economic impact while supporting artists’ careers and enhancing the downtown environment.
This is a foundational role within a growing gallery. As the primary on-site representative during public hours, you will be central to cultivating collector relationships, supporting artists, and establishing the gallery’s reputation for professionalism, trust, and long-term engagement. This role bridges sales, artist relations, and community presence, ensuring both commercial success and respectful stewardship of the artists we represent.
Key Responsibilities:
-Sales, Collector & Artist Relations
-Represent the gallery with professionalism and integrity
-Communicate artwork value, pricing, and artist narratives in collaboration with the curators and artists
-Build and maintain long-term relationships with collectors, clients, and artists
-Work closely with the curatorial team and artists to support exhibitions, private inquiries, and sales opportunities
-Manage client follow-ups while maintaining transparency and respect for artist relationships
Sales Administration & Operations:
-Process artwork sales and prepare invoices and documentation
-Track inventory, consignments, commissions, and payments
-Coordinate artist payments in accordance with gallery policies
-Maintain presentation standards appropriate to a high-end gallery
Gallery Presence & Community Engagement:
-Oversee daily gallery operations during open hours
-Serve as a welcoming point of contact for visitors, artists, and community members
-Support exhibition openings and events with professional client engagement
Ideal Candidate:
-Experience in art sales, luxury retail, or other high-touch client environments
-Strong relationship-building skills with collectors and artists alike
-Organized, professional, and comfortable working independently
-Sales-driven with an ethical, relationship-first approach
-Interest in contemporary art and community-based cultural work
