**Tool / Die Setup Machinist** Manufacturing Union County , NJ, NONE + Added - 04/12/2025 Apply for Job **Tool/ Die Set Up Machinist** **Pay: $30-35/hour** **Job Summary:** We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented **Tool and Die Maker** to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining precision tools, dies, and fixtures used in various manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with strong technical expertise in machining and metal properties, and capable of working to extremely tight tolerances. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Design and Fabrication:** Design, fabricate, and maintain tools, dies, punches, wire bending mandrels, and cutting tools for manufacturing processes, including those used in lathe operations and tube expansion. 2. **Precision Machining:** Manufacture tools to extremely high tolerances (within tenths of an inch), ensuring accuracy and repeatability. Square up tools and account for material changes due to heat treating and annealing processes. 3. **Problem Solving & Innovation:** Apply creative thinking and technical expertise to solve complex manufacturing and tooling challenges. Suggest improvements to enhance tool performance and process efficiency. 4. **Documentation & Reporting:** Properly document all work performed. Use computer systems to track setup times, record production data, and maintain logs of tool usage and maintenance. **Qualifications:** 1. Proven experience in tool and die making, precision machining, or a related trade. 2. Strong understanding of material properties, particularly as affected by heat treatment and annealing. 3. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. 4. Proficient in using manual and CNC machining equipment. 5. Familiarity with CAD software is a plus. 6. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise work. 7. HS Diploma required This job description is a complete list of all desired skills, but not all are required.
