Senior E-commerce Web Developer and Solution Architect

Key Mandatory experience required: Magento, BigCommerce, and WooCommerce

Duration: 2-3 months
Location: Remote, Pacific zone M-F 8-5pm, and in-person MUST live within the Continental U.S.

About the engagement: 

Estrada Consulting, Inc. (ECI) is seeking a senior web developer and solution architect to evaluate and implement a modern e-commerce solution for a mid-size trophy and awards seller with complex personalization, high repeat business, and strong seasonality.

Shopify is not an option due to licensing terms, so candidates must bring hands-on expertise with other leading platforms. Familiarity with migration from closed or proprietary systems is a plus.

What you will do:

• Lead a short discovery with our team to validate requirements and produce a platform recommendation that balances speed, budget, scalability, and maintainability.
• Implement the selected platform, migrate data, and configure:
  • Product catalog at scale, with variants and option sets.
  • Engraving and personalization rules, including line limits, per-character fees, “apply-to-all” logic, and logo add-on pricing.
  • File uploads for artwork and team rosters, with storage and order linking.
• Proofing workflow: capture customer approval and revision limits, prepare production-ready outputs.
• B2B conveniences: quick order by SKU, saved lists, quotes, PO checkout, and approval chains.
• Order status notifications for key stages.
• Integrate with QuickBooks Online and Salesforce, proposing middleware or direct API patterns as appropriate.
• Replace inbox-based intake and Typeform processes with an embedded intake flow tied to orders or opportunities.
• Improve product discovery: recommend or implement a modern search solution that resolves current Hawksearch limitations.
• Ensure accessibility, security, and PCI compliance. Optimize performance and SEO hygiene.
• Prepare for cutover, redirects, and staff training. Provide post-launch support as needed.

Required Experience:

Candidates will have 12+ years of working in Information Technology which will include the following specific experiences:

• 5+ years building production e-commerce sites, including at least two of:
  • BigCommerce or BigCommerce B2B Edition
  • Magento
  • Adobe Commerce (Magento Open Source or Commerce)
  • WooCommerce at scale, or a comparable SaaS or headless stack such as CommerceTools or Fabric, when justified
• Proven work with catalogs of 10k–25k SKUs. Skilled with CSV imports, data normalization, redirects, and image pipelines.
• Strong background in product personalization and custom options that affect pricing.
• Experience implementing user-facing personalization, file upload, and order-tracking features for e-commerce sites.
• Systems integration expertise: REST and GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and authentication patterns. Practical experience connecting e-commerce to QuickBooks Online and Salesforce or similar systems.
• Workflow design for proofs and approvals, including the generation of locked production outputs.
• Front-end development using modern stacks. Ability to extend platform themes or build headless front ends as needed.
• Practical knowledge of accessibility , PCI compliance , environment hardening , and Core Web Vitals .
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and emerging AI-driven optimization techniques (schema markup, search intent modeling, conversational search readiness).

Nice to have:

• Experience with proofing or print-on-demand systems, label/pick-pack processes, and barcode scanning during fulfillment.
• Search tech: Algolia, Searchspring, OpenSearch, or improved Hawksearch implementations.
• Messaging and notifications: transactional email and SMS.
• Shipping platforms and carrier APIs (ShipStation, Shippo, UPS, FedEx).
• Familiarity with AI-assisted product search, personalization, or merchandising tools.
• Experience migrating from closed or legacy e-commerce platforms.
• Previous project sample work will need to be provided with resume:
  • Two to three live e-commerce examples that include personalization or B2B features.
  • A paragraph describing a previous migration with more than 10k SKUs.
  • A brief outline of how you would approach this project, including platform tradeoffs.
